It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone brought up on a diet of Dad & Dave; Mo Rene, The Goons, The Goodies, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Mavis Bramston, Norman Gunston, Aunty Jack and others of the same ilk must have a great sense of humour – not to mention a lively appreciation of the ridiculous.  A tendency to anarchy is also a by-product of such a comedy heritage. So is a certain facility with pastiche.
